Medium-Large Bore
This trumpet features a .459” medium large bore. The bore of a wind instrument is the internal diameter of the instrument’s tubing. Bore size on any instrument impacts the amount of air it takes to play it. It also affects the instrument’s timbre. Trumpet bore sizes are described as “medium bore,” “medium-large bore,” or “large bore.” Less air is required to play a medium bore trumpet, making the instrument easier to play and the tone that is softer and more mellow. A larger bore requires more air and produces a rich, flamboyant timbre and a higher volume. This trumpet, being of medium-large bore, offers the player a balance between volume and richness.
Reverse Leadpipe
A reverse leadpipe on a trumpet is a leadpipe that slides into the main tuning slide instead of the other way around. This style of leadpipe offers less resistance to the player’s airflow, making the instrument easier to play.
One Piece Bell
This trumpet features a one-piece, standard weight, yellow brass bell. A one-piece bell is made from a single sheet of brass, creating a more consistent and rich tone. Yellow brass is employed, helping to produce a bright, forceful timbre.
Monel Pistons
The professional Monel piston material provides smooth and quick action. Monel is a very hard metal that is mostly constructed of nickel. This is a common material used in the valves of professional trumpets, cornets, flugelhorns, and euphoniums. Monel is a durable and stain-resistant material, making it ideal for valves.
Two-Piece Valve Casing
Like most professional trumpets, the housing for the valves is constructed from two separate pieces of metal. The balusters (the top part of the valve casing) are made of nickel-silver, giving the trumpet a clean, bright sound.
Silver-Plated Finish
A trumpet’s finish is meant to protect the instrument from rust and dirt. As an added bonus, the finish can also contribute subtlety to the timbre. In broad terms, silver-plate gives the instrument a bright, characteristic sound.
