The Selmer SPC711 Piccolo
With passion and dedication to musicians the world over, Selmer has been making high-quality woodwind instruments for over 135 years. Selmer brings that experience and energy into their professional line of Selmer piccolos, such as the SPC711, to create a truly legendary instrument. Every Selmer piccolo is professionally set up, play-tested, and optimally adjusted at the Conn-Selmer Woodwind Center in Elkhart, Indiana.
Wave Style Hand-cut Headjoint
The hand-cut headjoint features a wave headjoint profile, meaning the blowing edge is carved slightly higher than the lower back wall where your chin rests. This helps prevent the player
from rolling in too much and provides excellent control of dynamics and tone. It also focuses the lower register, enabling good articulation.
Conical Bore Shape
This piccolo has a Conical Bore meaning that the top of the piccolo’s body is wider than its bottom end – like a cone. That, combined with the carefully designed tone hole system, produces a piccolo with very stable intonation and resonance.
Pisoni Pads
It is equipped with Pisoni Pads for long lasting pad seating and stability.
Hand-assembled Silver Plated Keywork
The silver plated keywork is hand-assembled with carefully adjusted springs creating a light, fast, and fluid key action.
Split-E Mechanism
This piccolo comes with a Split E mechanism. The basic structure of the piccolo can make the third-octave E note difficult to produce. To make it easier, the arm of the split E mechanism brings down the duplicate G key while you finger the high E. Closing this key will make your high E easier to play.
