"Traditions" features some wonderful harmonic moments beginning with a lush, lyrical opening with carefully placed dissonances to set the mood. The piece then takes off into a rhythmically pulsating accompaniment to a beautifully soaring melody. The lyrical material returns throughout in differing guises to add variety and continuity to the piece.
